Students who have a strong background in French may join the accelerated program. Students will study a program which will incorporate broad enrichment activities and academically rigorous language skills in the target language. It is anticipated that students in the accelerated programs will complete their School Certificate two years ahead of their peers. The study of a language other than English is compulsory in Years 7 and 8. In Year 7 students complete an introductory one-term course in Chinese, French, Italian or Japanese. French accelerated students continue to study French. In Year 8 students elect to study one of the languages they studied in Year 7. To complete the requirements for the School certificate in that language, students continue to study the language in Years 9 and 10. |
